Taking baby up to bed.

Up until now we had been feeding DS downstairs and he would fall asleep. Then we would lay him on cushions on the sofa and I would take him up when I went up to bed and he would stay asleep. Now he seems to fight it and we’re wondering if he is at that age now where he doesn’t want to miss out and is aware of other stuff going on and disturbed by the Tv etc. For those of you that did this, when did you start taking them up to settle straight in their own bed?

I do this with DS now - I’m going to start putting him upstairs when he is 6 months as SIDS guidelines say baby should always sleep on the same room as you until at least this age

I haven’t started yet but atm whenever I put him in his cot he stays asleep, so fingers crossed!!!

DS is 5 months but the last few nights he has just cried and thrashed about and is currently still wide awake. Since being a newborn we’ve had the same bedtime routine but for some reason he has just suddenly decided not to play ball and we have lost our evenings. I thought sleep was supposed to be better as they got older not worse.

My dd was 4 months when she would no longer settle with us in the evening.
I ended up having to go to bed at 7/8 with her until she was 6 months

My daughter is 5months 1 week and now goes upstairs anywhere between 8&9 because she can get cranky (i think she loves a dark room!)

Shes alone for anywhere between half hour to an hour before i follow her up. We still sleep in the same room and will do for sometime yet. But its nice to grab those 40minutes alone when all 3 are down

DS still sleeps in our room in his crib but we have the monitor on for when he naps etc so can see and hear him at all times. I’m guessing he is just too interested in what is going on downstairs now that he finds it hard to settle then gets over tired which makes the problem worse.
