Baby keeps pulling off cot sheets

I'm at the end of my tether with going back upstairs to remake the bed. 12 month old keeps pulling off all the bedsheets and folding the mattress in half. How do I stop her?!

Velcro strip the mattress to the base of the cot.
Fitted sheet on the mattress, strips of elastic sewn on to each side to hold it on tighter. Gro-bag.

A baby sleeping bag is useful as they can't get it off. Once the baby learns to undo It, put it on them with the zip at the back.

Use those elastic straps to keep it in place.

What kind of mattress is that? Is it a proper mattress?

Loubylou9162 · 15/08/2020 20:46

A heavier mattress maybe?

GlmPmum · 15/08/2020 20:48

How on earth does she manage to fold the mattress in half??? Is she the hulk?

Ours is really thick and heavy, even I have trouble moving it to put the sheets on.

Maybe buy a decent quality super thick mattress to stop her.

Mizydoscape · 15/08/2020 20:49

😂😂 Yes it's like a foamy mattress. Maybe a better mattress is the way forward.

Can anyone recommend a good mattress. It's a cot bed. I think 140x70

OP posts:
Mizydoscape · 15/08/2020 20:53

Sorry just checked seems its 120x60

Better mattress needed I think op. I find our cotbed mattress pretty heavy when changing the sheets, baby/toddler has never/wouldn't be able to do that.

Ours is a pretty luxurious one but wasn't that expensive from John Lewis.

Kreacheriscleaning · 15/08/2020 21:26

If I were going to go to the expense of changing the mattress, I would probably change to a cotbed so that it will last longer. I think that 120x60 is usually just a cot.

That photo did make me laugh. Grin

We got w decent sprung cotbed mattress from Asda.

Mizydoscape · 15/08/2020 21:30

Thanks @Kreacheriscleaning. She is small so shouldn't be too big in her bed for ages. The cot changes into a bed.

We have a pocket sprung cotbed mattress from Ikea. It’s not foldable even by an adult.

It might still be possible to remove sheets though!

Baby sleeping bags are fab!

Different mattress I think and definitely a sleeping bag maybe. I wouldn't settle if they can fold the mattress in half.

Hartleyhare1206 · 16/08/2020 20:36

Mine had a cot bed that was 120 x 60, and stayed in it till 3.8 (and she is massive!)
We had a great mattress from ikea - they do a range in that size and very reasonably priced and great quality. No mattress folding took place in our house 🤣🤣

GirlCalledJames · 16/08/2020 20:42

I just left them to it and put the sheets back on after they were asleep. The novelty wore off in a few days.
Is she falling asleep alone in her room and you’re going in to put the sheets on when you see it on the monitor? If so you’re in danger of teaching her that she can summon you instantly by doing this.

user1493413286 · 16/08/2020 20:44

John Lewis do zip on mattress covers that feel like sheets so you could always get one of those along with a heavier mattress

Whereland · 16/08/2020 20:47

I'm sorry but this really made me laugh Grin

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 16/08/2020 20:58

What a little rascal!

I'd get some of the clip together luggage straps like these

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Luggage-Adjustable-Suitcase-Packing-Security/dp/B07JM8Y9WZ/ref=sr115?adgrpid=103584242789&dchild=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuP5BRCoARIsAPtXwEN6HiLjHSdMYe--Sfu7BxJ2ZlH-f4X2ZlvIONSXxBjd4plTlwARsaAphFEALwwwcB&hvadid=447734043354&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9046177&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=10309982711663814463&hvtargid=kwd-46909000&hydadcr=281491821047&keywords=luggage+straps&qid=1597607834&sr=8-5&tag=googhydr-21

Strap the mattress to the base then put the sheet on.

Mizydoscape · 17/08/2020 20:40

@GirlCalledJames that's what I'm afraid of most. We put her down, put Ollie on and she usually rolls around for 15 minutes then falls asleep but this is a new development. She didn't do it tonight though!

Fingers crossed it’s already boring!
