Twin girl waking up in the early hours

Hi All,

Basically I'm having an issue with one of my twin daughters sleeping. They're almost 6 months, now one of them sleeps quite well but the other in the early hours cries repeatedly and we put her dummy in repeatedly but she will continue for awhile. Now we've bought her into our bed which calms her a minimal amount but I've got no clue what is wrong with her, it's killing us with our sleep and I have epilepsy so stress and lack of sleep has caused me to have a seizure.
I'm desperate for any tips or answers, I'm speaking to a doctor tomorrow also.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Could she be hungry and want a feed?

It’s not uncommon for 6 month olds to wake regularly throughout the night unfortunately

Are the bedding in together or in their own cot?

Are they in your room or their own room?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 03/08/2020 13:32

Is she hungry?

I did think of that but they've started on solids so are taking more food in the day.

Just so clueless.

They're in separate beds but still in our room.

Might be worth offering her a feed? My older one still got pretty hungry at night when she was having a growth spurt.

Maybe teething?

Crapster · 05/08/2020 08:08

Just try offering her milk. I bet she's hungry. Starting solids doesn't actually increase their calorie or nutrient intake much at first, unless you're giving them stuff like liver or eggs. Cereals and vegetables/fruit are less calorie dense than milk and may actually be decreasing their overall calorie intake if they've dropped milk feeds in the day.

Solids at 6 months aren’t likely to be enough to make that much difference, I would offer a feed.

This. She still needs her milk. Give it a go and see what happens.

@Mumoftwo1994 she's almost certainly hungry. Solids won't make much of a difference to how hungry she is for a good few months yet.

Have you tried feeding her?

Iverunoutofnames · 05/08/2020 08:12

Can they sleep together. My friend has twins and they always wanted to sleep next to each other.

brastrapbroken · 05/08/2020 08:18

Yes to feeding. I always fed mine if they woke in the night as babies.

scrivette · 05/08/2020 08:20

Agree with the feeding, she is probably hungry.

They did for the first 3 months but then they started to wake each other up so we separated them and they're too big to share now :(

Yeah I will try feeding, they're on reflux milk so it takes time to let the milk settle and they are starting to teeth so I know that will impact sleep somewhat.
