Sleep Tips!!

My DD (5 months) has recently come out of the 4 month sleep regression - which was absolute hell!! She's going longer stretches when she goes down at night and only wakes once for feeding!

BUT we're having a really tough time establishing a bedtime routine! We tend to bath at 7 then feed and she's normally down by 7:30 every night ... but every single night without fail she will only sleep for half an hour and then wake back up at 8! We've tried letting her sooth herself back to sleep, pick her up and rock her back to sleep, feed her back to sleep but nothing works. She becomes wide awake and just wants to be nosey and lay on the bed with us.. she'll then be happily rocked back to sleep around 9/9:15 without fail and then go 6-8 hour sleeping!!

We've tried moving bedtime earlier but the same thing happens she will never go fully down till 9pm!

We've been really good at being consistent, even though it's frustrating we keep at it every night!

Anyone have any ideas why she does this initial 30 min stint before she goes down for the night?!

We've considered speaking to a sleep specialist to get some advice, have any of you had any experience with baby sleep specialists and do the work for you.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

This isnt about the timing of your bedtime. This will be to do with your setting method.

It's really important for good sleep hygiene that baby goes to sleep where they stay asleep. So if sleeping in a cot, that means baby going from being fully awake to being fully asleep in the cot.

Are you rocking to sleep? That's likely to be the issue here I'm afraid.

How much sleep is your baby having in the afternoon? Waking shortly after being put down suggests they aren’t sufficiently tired to go down for the night
