Anyone’s baby sleep better once in own room?

My 7 month old sleeps okay in our room. Wakes a
a couple of times, but noticed the last 2 nights he’s woken up when I’ve gone to bed about 9.30-10pm and I’ve had to re-settle him with nappy change and feed.
Is it time to move him?
TIA! X

Yes. At 6 months was like a magic pill! He turned onto his front in his big cot and slept for 12 hours. I obviously thought he wasn't breathing and was still a wake all night but that's what he's done every since

I was wondering the same thing! DH and I woke DS last night (and a couple of other times last week) when we went to bed. He’ll be 6 months on Monday. He will only go back to sleep with a feed. I’m a bit scared of having him sleep in another room but if it means he sleeps better then it’s what we’ll do!

Yes! DD slept through for the first time at 4 months - the very first night she slept in a big cotbed in her own room. I think it was a combination of having more space & not hearing DH snoring.

Yes far better in own cot on her front.

Is baby in the big cot in your room, or a crib?

It's often the change to a big cot, rather than the room change that makes the difference.

If baby is easy to resettle in the night then I'd try own room. But if you have to go through lengthy settling methods chances are if the cot is in another room you'll end up bringing baby into your bed.

@FATEdestiny- thanks for your reply.

He’s in his cot, been in it for months now. We had him in snuzpod but he didn’t like it. He’s much happier now he’s got more room xx

Following. Baby still in our bedroom at 11 months (in her own cot though). Partner sleeps in spare room because of snoring. As for me I'm super quiet but I'm starting to wonder if just my presence perpetuates that habit of DD waking up 2-3 times a night wanting a breastfeed.. Hmm

Sandrine1982 · 26/07/2020 10:16

PS: And I'm SO scared of moving her into her own room in case she keeps waking as I'll then be hopping between rooms, not just between beds :-(

LivingDeadGirlUK · 26/07/2020 10:21

Didn't make a difference to us but then my son still doesn't sleep through at 3. At least now I don't have to get up anymore lol

IloveBeefJerky · 27/07/2020 19:48

yep! We were waking my 5 month old when coming to bed, once he was in his own room slept like an angel.

Anna783426 · 28/07/2020 21:58

Me! We were co-sleeping until 5 months when we just seemed to wake each other up, a lot. There's been a few rough nights with teething when we've brought her back in with us but otherwise we went from at least every couple of hours to 1-2 wake ups a night, although I did feel awful for moving before the 6 month guideline.

Sandrine1982 · 29/07/2020 10:42

Did anyone move their baby to their own at the 12-month mark? How did it go for that age?

attillathenun · 31/07/2020 21:50

My DD sleeps so much better in her own room. We got to the stage where she had to move at 6 months because we were disturbing each other in the night and if she woke in the night, would see us and start thinking it was play time! She also has learnt since being in there to nap in her big cot during the day.

KindKylie · 31/07/2020 21:56

No! None of mine did.

With dd1 I moved her out bang in 6 months because the books told me too and it took me a while to twig that it was way more tiring having to spend half the night trying to settle her in her room instead of bringing her into my bed in the warm!
