Hi guys,
I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this but hopefully you can all help!
I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant and really want a bedside crib but my bed is ridiculously high so am struggling as I thought the cot mattress always had to be level with mine. However, when shopping the other day I came across a Maxi Cosi Iora and noticed that it only zips part way down so there would be quite a big lip between the crib and my bed (I’ve attached a picture to try show the bit I mean).
So my question is, would it be fine with this particular model for the crib mattress to be slightly lower than my mattress? Would you expect the top of the ‘lip’ to be level with my mattress?

I think that for bedside cots that have a lip like this, you are supposed to keep the side zipped up, just lowering to put baby in but not keeping it lowered. Some years ago there was a baby death linked to a similar crib that involved a baby sliding over the lip (due to the cot being raised at one end) and ending up with their windpipe constricted.

I dont mean to put a dampner on things, just thought I'd mention why you dont see bedside cribs with a lip very often.

You know, you can just use a normal cot as a bedside cot, by removing one side from it and butting it up to your bed. Cots have adjustable mattress heights.
