Can a baby have multiple sleep associations?

We are currently trying to stop feeding baby to sleep. ATM he falls asleep for naps on the boobie either on my lap or in the sling. He also feeds to sleep at night.
I would LOVE to give him other sleep associations to work with, especially for bedtimes BUT I actually really enjoy our daily long walk with him falling asleep in the sling... does anyone have experiences of babies who do 'a bit of both'? As all the books say stick rigidly to 1 :(?

How old is baby?

Until you're down to two nap days, the teatime nap is always best done on the move, regardless of other settling methods.

So yes, this is fine.

@BabySleepTeacherUK why is that just out of curiosity ?

@June628 the pressure to sleep is lowest at teatime, due to the circadian rhythm (daylight influencing the body clock).

So while teatime naps are necessary for (usually) at least 6 months, they often have to be worked at and require more effort than naps earlier in the day.

Absolutely. DS used to fall asleep in the day being rocked in the pram, cuddled in my arms, sung to, in the sling, a whole multitude of ways

But I think my best bit of advice would be to ditch the baby books. I think you find that motherhood becomes more enjoyable and less pressured when you accept that babies are not all the same but are all rather simple creatures who will let you know if they need anything. Just follow your intuition, and do what works for you and baby in that moment in time.

9 months - he has always been fed to sleep in one way or another but will also go with a bit of motion eg rocking or in car... Thanks for reply :)
