How to transfer sleeping children from car to bed

We are taking our children to visit family next weekend, leaving mid-afternoon for what will be a 6 1/2 hour drive. We anticipate feeding and changing to pjs half way through, but my worry is how we transfer the children from the car to bed without waking them up (too much). Any tips or tricks anyone could share? TIA!

I find that if they’re properly asleep it’s not too hard, I just make sure that I open the front door before I get them out so that once I have them in my arms I don’t have to faff about with keys etc. Also I don’t turn their bedroom lights on.

How old are they? I used to be able to just kind of gather them up, lots of sweet sleepy talk and soothing words and they’d stay mostly asleep and then drowse off again once in bed. It helps if you can get the beds a little warmed before they go in otherwise it’ll wake them up. This was when they were under 8. Any bigger and I couldn’t have done it.

Even if they did rouse a little they were sleepy enough to just snuggle down in the bed and nod off again. If they resist a warm milky drink will help them settle.

I never ever managed it.

You either have heavy sleepers or you don't. I don't think I'd be able to to do it but it might just take a story and warm milk to settle them back to sleep in bed.

As long as you keep faffing to a minimum and the bed's FCC set up ready to go then fingers crossed they'll settle down ok of that wake up.

Mine are quite easy but like pp I make sure the front door is open, lights are off and the bed is ready then I scoop them up and straight upstairs into bed. If they stir, lots of shushing and cuddles seems to work.
However I have always been able to take my dc out the car fast asleep. Some wake up no matter what
