Is my baby the only one who sleeps worse in his own room?

exactly that really.

DS is 6 months, and last week we made the decision to move him into his own room at the end of the week (so last night), and we'd have the weekend to establish getting him settled in there etc.

so last night we did bedtime routine, everything exactly the same (bath, night time nappy, massage with a sing-song, and a feed in a dark room), the only thing that was different was obviously we did the feed in his room rather than in ours. every other part of his routine is in his room (apart from the bath obvs!), he drank his bottle and had a nice full feed, I put him down awake/drowsy... usually he goes straight to sleep after a bit of a wiggle, but last night he didn't drop off for an hour after I put him down!!

maybe it was the heat as well as a change of scenery?

anyway, the night didn't go much better. He was up twice for feeds which is normal, but then woke at 4am (!?!?!) for the day and wouldn't go back to sleep. As soon as he saw me it was game over. I tried to leave him in his cot but gave up at 5am because he just started whinging.

I know its early days and will probably get better, but wow you hear all these stories on babies who slept so much better once in their own room.... mine sleeps worse!

when he was in our room he slept 6:30-6 and woke for feeds at 11:30 and 3:30.

we've moved him because he has outgrown his crib and our room isn't big enough for his big cot. we also feel ready to get our bedroom back (was so nice to watch tv in bed last night!)

sorry for the long rambly post... I haven't had much sleep due to the heat and such an early start! YAWN

Put something that smells like you nearby. Maybe the sleep was lacking because they are used to the smell of you and it wasn't there.

Hope you have a nice easy day and get some rest when you can Thanks

I always sleep weirdly in a new place so it’s not surprising when babies do too, combined with the heat, it was bound to be a more fitful sleep than usual. It’ll improve!

How did you get on last night OP? It was a little cooler so hoping you had a better night xx
