almost 3yo twins playing up at bedtime

Hi all

I have nearly 3yo twins - great sleepers (gloat!) BUT recently have started to really play up at bedtime. We go up after ITNG, we bath, we brush teeth, we get dressed and we go to bed. Half an hour later we can still hear the sound of hefalumps running about the bedroom. WE go up to check, 2 naked boys, bedding on floor, nappies in a heap by the bin, sometimes poo in the potty, sometimes not.....redress children, back downstairs, still much hilarity for another half hour.

Any suggestions? why the sudden change? they used to go straight to sleep....could it be they don't need the nap in the day (still have about an hour at lunchtime)....i find if they don't nap, they are shattered in the afternoon and very grumpy......

any advice greatly appreciated even if it's just 'it's a phase it will pass'

dont worry about not feeding them enough you would know if they were starving i read somewhere that slice of toast before bed helped them settle maybe it makes them feel full up and tired anything is worth a try but dont panic you sound like you have done a good job

its just as they get older you find you have to fit new routine to adapt to there changes so toast and story could help

oh i am part of boy girl twin and we shared room up untill we were 8 i think but we always settle well with a story as if we were not tired then we would want to play the story took your mind off wanting to play and made you sleepy especially if being made to lay down when reading it as its easier for them to just drift off this is why my ds gets story

aswell as sleep therapist recommending it of course to help there minds relax

How's about putting one down first? That's what I've started to do. I put DT2 to bed and he goes straight to sleep then DT1 (lil Miss Houdini). She chatters on to herself for a while, gets bored and goes to sleep! Finally!

OK - story tonite, eddy had only had a 10 min nap at nursery, so was tired. Arfie had the hour, seemed tired though (i've always reckoned he needs more sleep than his bro)....so i read them a story. both did look weary, but bolted upright when story was over....!

I got them to bed, went downstairs, much crying from arfie, aparently he needed a wee, so left him 10 mins, back up, took him for a wee which provoked Eddy to want one too....back in bed, many kisses and cuddles, all quiet......more crying from arfie......left him........went back, more kisses, eddy is now asleep and arfie is singing.......
