1 month old baby won't sleep in crib

Hello net mums,

My DD is nearly 2 months old and will not nap / sleep in her crib... only on me day & night (which is not only inconvenient but also dangerous).
I don't know what to do, when I put her in her crib still drousy she will wake up after 5min and howl. I have tried everything.

My days are spent in bed with her, I also have a 3 year old to look after. Her doctor says not to let her cry as she has bad silent reflux.

HELP!

I know it's hard in those first 3 months, especially when you have a toddler as well.

Have you tried putting baby in something that moves for daytime naps? Those who find sleep difficult can be helped in the short term by movement to get to sleep and stay asleep. A pram pushed back and forth might help (or a walk if you feel like it). Or a bouncy chair.

A bouncer (for daytime naps, not night time) holds baby in a slightly inclined position, which may also help with baby's reflux.

A dummy is also recommended by the NHS as a way to help babies with reflux, if used consistently. Dummies are also brilliant for allowing independent sleep - so baby can go to sleep on their own.

If you're looking to put baby in a static cot/crib, I would suggest at this age you swaddle baby. This helps reduce stimulation and recreates the enclosed, secure feeling of the womb. It helps when putting baby down to sleep because they feel less exposed.

This is very normal for such a tiny baby.

Get yourself a sling, pop baby in that during the day and you can get on with things with your 3 year old. Being upright should help her reflux too.
Do you have a bedside crib? If not could you get one or bed share(following the safety guidelines) at night.

I agree with @Thesearmsofmine

Get a sling. Maybe one of those swing rockers too. Baby needs a lot of comfort and reassurance. I wish I had used these. I had breast fed dd in my arms so much. I could have made my life so less tiring.

Thanks for all your answers.
I have the Chicco Next 2 me but I think she finds the mattress rather hard (she should really be sleeping at 30 degrees because of the reflux). DD1 also had very bad reflux but she slept in her bed from the get go. I try the sling but she is only OK with it if I walk (and never stop Smile).
I don't want to try the CIO method as I can't bear to hear her cry (same for DD1 who still sleeps in our room in a small bed). As you can see I'm very bad at this :(

My baby is the same, to begin with all naps were on me and we coslept. I used a sling and had to keep moving, but could do things like hoovering, putting washing out. At 3.5 months he now has short naps in the pushchair as well, but a usually we have a cosleeping nap each day and he will sometimes nap in the next to me on his own for about 30 mins. No easy answers, sorry.
