9 month old always been a great sleeper. Down for naps settling herself with a dummy, sometimes have to go in to pop it back in. 6:30pm bed routine every night, normally asleep within 10 minutes of being put down. But the past few nights she just resisting naps and crying. About a week ago she dropped to 2 naps and it was going great. But then she had one nap in the morning and wouldn't settle for her afternoon one, she was quite happy to bed time and slept right through. But last night she tossed and turned when going to bed, wouldn't settle and when I got her up into the living room she was all smiles. Is the hysterical crying separation anxiety? Her two bottom tooth broke through a week ago so shes been OK with teething side of things. It's like she doesnt want to be alone and not sure how to deal with it.

Given you have very recently changed her nap schedule, it's much more likely to be that that is causing her to be unsettled, rather than separation anxiety. Its also not great than the nap schedule changed at exactly the same time as a tooth cutting through. She will still be working on settling into a new routine.

What was your sleep routine before, on 3-nap days?

What has your routine changed to?

Did you gradually swap over or just change completely from one day to the next?

She naturally dropped to 2 naps from 3 over about 3 weeks. She started staying up later in the morning and napping longer so there was no room for a third nap. I've read that 2 naps around this age is about right I believe? Teething cause 3 mornings of early wake ups, but apart from that fine. Maybe I should stop over analysing and just accept babies go through ups and downs :)
