8-week-old hates naps - any advice?

Two issues:

Lovely DS is so alert during the day and creates merry hell when I try to put him down for naps. Am (roughly) following Baby Whisperer routine - Eat, Activity, Sleep - and he will grudgingly sleep for perhaps 20-40 mins.

Will only nap in pram while moving, or in bouncy chair with buzzy function turned on. Wakes up within minutes if placed in basket, so really I know I've 'trained' him to do this by giving in and putting him in something that moves or buzzes!

At night, he goes to bed beautifully in his moses basket at 10.30pm and sleeps for 4-5 hours usually, so not so much problem there. But he does get v sleepy from 8pm onwards and have noticed that if he sleeps lots then, he will wake up way earlier (2.30pm, say) and won't want to go back to sleep.

Selfishly, I prefer him to have his long sleep when I'm in bed - but I know he's going to need an earlier bedtime at some point.

Any ideas for what I can do on either point? Thank you!

Why do they wake when you put them down in their baskets/cots?! DS of 7 weeks is exactly the same and will only sleep on me at night, though he will sleep in his cocoon if we're on the move in the buggy during the day. As soon as I try to put him in his moses basket at night he wakes up. As for naps during the day, every day is different at the moment - some days he'll do 2 or 3 hour stretches. Other days he'll only nap for 15 mins before waking. I think they're too young to have got themselves into a routine of any sort at this age - hopefully by 12 weeks things will start to get better (I seem to remember this being the case with DS1)
