You know it's crap when 6am feels like a lay in

My ten month old at the earliest wakes up for the day at around half 4 and at the very latest half 5. Been this way for about 3 months now. He usually has a nap at about 8.30am for an hour or so then goes down for another nap between 12-1, then in bed for 7. I know it's pretty good for him to be sleeping through and I know he's getting enough sleep. But could he be getting too much sleep? Do you think it might be worth merging his naps so that he only has 1 nap a day, say at around 11? I'm just desperate for a bit more sleep in the morning. I've always struggled with early starts, I'm not a morning person at all, but they're really starting to take it's toll on me. Any advice?

Sorry this is probably not what you want to hear but my 3 year old has dropped all naps and still wakes before 6 most days. Some kids are just early risers.

You have my sympathy though.

I'd shift bedtime later first. And bear in mind that it takes around 3 weeks of being consistent to start noticing the effects of that change. So you might get a while of later bedtime with still getting early wake up (hence probably still needing two naps) until you start seeing the night sleep shift later. I'd aim for 8.00-8.30pm bedtime.

How is baby going from fully awake to fully asleep at bedtime and naptime? The problem could be due to baby not being able to resettle back to sleep easily.

Also consider calorie intake while you're weaning. Baby could need more calories and/or milk feeds, causing the wake up.
