Moving baby to their own room

My little boy is nearly 7 months old and has almost outgrown his next to me crib. We made the decision to try him in his own room last night, he settled after 10 mins of winging and fidgeting.
He has never slept through the night before but last night he did and now I'm panicking that I didnt hear him Sad he woke at his usual feed time, cried briefly but when I went to get up he rolled over and fell back to sleep. His room is opposite ours, with both doors open and I had the monitor with sound on next to me all night. I'm worried that he may have woken another time during the night and I just didnt hear him! His dad thinks that he must have just been happy in there and didnt have us moving around waking him up, my partner also snores loudly! Confused But I cant help but feel guilty, any advice would be appreciated Smile x

I felt the same way and then I realised that DS is pretty good at letting me know when he needs something and can be very loud when he wants - I'm sure your DS is the same! He might well have woken up but he clearly didn't actually need anything as you would have known for sure. It sounds like a very successful transition to me!

Thank you so much, you've put my mind at ease! Smile he has a super loud cry/scream so I'm sure I would have heard him. Think he must have just been ready for the big move x

My dd1 started sleeping better when we moved her, she is a really light sleeper and we must have been disturbing her. Yours might be the same.

The first time DD slept through at about the same age, and we woke up before her, DH and I were both to scared to go and check her! Our arguing woke her up!

Mine slept 100000% better in her own room too and you WILL hear him if he actually needs you. My eyes ping open like a shot and I keep the monitor with sound off and the nursery room door is shut!

Thank you so much for all your replies, helpful to know your LOs sleep better in their own rooms. Feeling much better about tonight Grin

Yes I felt exactly the same! My DS was pretty restless in the next to me crib in our room, and used to wake at least twice in the night - I'd just feed him to get him back to sleep. Then we moved him into his own room and all of a sudden he slept from 7-7! The first few night I went in every few hours to check he was ok 😂 same as you, I still wonder if he wakes in the night and I just don't hear him, but I'm sure they would cry out if they needed us, and you would definitely hear crying. Sometimes I look on the monitor in the middle of the night and he is having a little kick around and a chat to himself, perfectly happy, so I just leave him. Sounds like your little one was just ready!
