Hello!

I am currently pregnant and looking at options for sleep aids for my baby.

I’m considering Myhummy, Ewan the sheep and Ollie the owl. Has anyone used one or more of these, and what were your opinions?

In some ways they all seen the same and others seem so different so feeling a bit confused! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!Smile

Start with dummies - the simplest and best aid for no-cry independent sleep.

A swaddle also helps in the newborn stage.

I've got the Ewan the sheep and my 7 month old absolutely loves it. However it was completely useless for the newborn stage! At that stage white noise is helpful, but the Ewan doesn't have a continuous setting, and you really don't want it turning off or I found that the baby wakes from the silence. It was only once DS was about 4/5 months that I've found the Ewan useful. Now I'm really glad I have it as I put DS in his cot, turn the Ewan on and it's like a sleep cue, he smiles at it, listens to the music and falls asleep.

A white noise machine which has a continuous setting is vital in my opinion! For newborns and onwards.

We have a Ewan too and agree it is pretty useless for the newborn stage, we burned through tonnes of batteries and quickly switched to an iPad to have it playing all night. It is good now she is older - I use the lullaby foot as a time to sleep cue. I would recommend a continuous machine over anything with a time limit though.

Thank you all for your replies.
Was trying to avoid a dummy as the midwife has spoken to me about nipple confusion but I bought some anyway!
Will try an app or something to begin with. Smile

The Lullaby Trust website is worth a look for advice about safe sleeping. Sleep positions are marketed for better baby sleep but they are not recommended. Understanding a bit about the newborns needs and brain development is useful too for explaining what is normal sleep. The 4th trimester info is good.
