Bedtime questions!

My little boy is 15m and currently sleeps in a sleepbag in his cot.
He’s always been such a good boy when it comes to bedtime. We’ve never had a problem putting him down and he goes to sleep almost straight away. He sleeps through for at least 12 hours. He does move around a lot in his sleep and mostly ends up curled up at the bottom of the cot.
My question is how do I transition from a sleepbag to a pillow and duvet? Should I be doing that at this age?
When is it ok to take the cot sides down?
Thank you!

Mine stayed in the grobag until he was 2½ years old and was moving to a big bed. If he's happy as he is then I'd keep things as they are

The best advice given to me was, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

We ruined Ds1 sleep last year by moving him to a bed when there was nothing wrong him before, took months to get him back on track.

We did put a pillow in his cot a few weeks before to help him get used to it but he didn’t use it.

Our second child has just turned 2 and he’s still in a cot and gro-bag and will be staying that way for as long as possible!

I echo if it ain’t broke!

DD has just turned 3. We only moved her from a growbag to a duvet in Feb, as she was getting to big for the size. It went fine.

Only moved her to a bed from a cot in March, and then only as we were due to go to centre parcs a few weeks later, and I worried a travel cot would be too small now.

I think the fact that she was that much older really helped - both transitions were really smooth, and I could explain to her about staying in bed etc. This is despite it usually taking half an hour or so of her singing and chatting before she sleeps. She’s been very happy in her bed.

I would certainly leave it as long as possible, and leave the cot as is until as close to 3 as you can (or he starts climbing out!)
