How not to feed to sleep - naps

Hi
My baby is 8 weeks old and I’m attempting to get him into some kind of 3 hr schedule during the day. Previously we had no kind of schedule and I would feed/play/feed/sleep. Now with trying to implement feed/play/sleep I am resorting to a sling to get him off to sleep as it works like magic! But I don’t want to rely on it + I can’t seem to get him out asleep and into his Moses basket so just carrying him all day. Any tips on other ways to get him to sleep without a feed?

Sorry but i think he's too young yet Sad for a routine and for not feeding to sleep.

I tackled feeding to sleep at about 5 or 6 months.

While you've got something that works, why not use it?

Thanks for the feedback. The 3hrs actually seems to be working fine with him in the sling, and means I’m not stuck to the couch all day!
Maybe I should be happy enough with that for now Smile I know it’s pointless to compare but with lockdown we don’t see anyone in the same stage and I’m unsure where we should be at right now!

8 weeks is so tiny! Feed/play/sleep aka the bullshit EASY routine (eat! Activity! Sleep! You oh shit wait to get them to sleep I had to use the sling so now I can't put them in the cot and have no you time) is nonsense because what the baby wants and is programmed to do is Play-feed to sleep-sleep.

(Enjoy the feeding to sleep part while it lasts, tbh. That magic bullet disappeared for a few months for us and we had to rock/bounce/sling/pram/Irish jig.)

Sure someone with a magical baby who fell asleep in their bouncer and went through the night from day one will be along in a minute to disagree and extol the virtues of feed/play/sleep. Honestly, you're still in the fourth trimester. Feed to sleep if it works. Sometimes plonk the baby down to have a quick shower; sometimes just sit on the sofa with a baby on you and eat a mint Magnum.

Just enjoy it OP. Don't worry about "creating bad habits" - baby is still in 4th trimester and thinks is part of you - of course they want to feed to sleep, how comforting for them. You can tackle it later x
