9 week old not waking for night feeds

Hi all,

For the past few nights my baby hasn't been waking for a night feed. She's 9 weeks and 2 days old and weighs 10lb13. She'll feed at 10/11pm and then quite happily sleep (albeit with a few quiet grunting episodes) until 7am without waking up at all! Until a few days ago I would feed her at 3/4am as soon as she started grizzling. She doesn't grizzle anymore but I still wake up at 3 expecting her to feed. Should I be waking her? Is she old/big enough to sleep through the night? Should I be worried!? She is exclusively breast fed and a generally happy baby, who has always been a good sleeper at night.

Many thanks!

I’d thank you’re lucky stars. Let her sleep 💤

Congratulations on your DD

As long as she's growing ok and has plenty wet nappies I would leave her be.

You will probably find night feeds come back as she goes through growth spurts (unless you get super lucky!)

That said if you have any concerns speak with your health visitor, Gp etc

My youngest went through the night from 7 weeks. She was a very sleepy contented baby. Make the most of it.

Mine did from 7w, it didn’t last though, so make the most of it.

Let her sleep, and get some rest yourself.

My mum used to say I started sleeping through in the maternity home, I was 10lb at birth.

My lo started to sleep through at 7 weeks and he’s fine!

Like you I was really worried, but I didn’t need to be! I also kept waking up, which I thought i think makes the worry worse as you’re ‘waiting’ for them to wake and you’re just as sleep deprived as before!

Baby will wake if she’s hungry if they are otherwise well (wet and dirty nappies, gaining weight, no fever, etc).

I’m sure your HV will say the same but give them a call if it would help you not to worry and catch some sleep while you can!
