Can I double up on meds for sleep?

For the past 5 weeks I've been awake most of the night tossing and turning.
I take mirtazapine which have sedatives in and generally get a decent nights sleep with theses

Recently found out I was pregnant and when I spoke to the doctor he said lack of sleep could be due to my hormones.

I'm getting that desperate for some sleep I'm tempted to take two of my mirtazapine but I'm worried about any side effects.

Not really sure what to do.. my doctor won't give me sleeping tablets but I just don't know what to do anymore.
I've tried taking hot baths, lavender spray, horlicks / hot chocolates before bed.. everything!

Please tell me I'm not the only one and pleeeeease give me some tips and tricks to help me get a full nights sleep.

The sleep deprevation is a a side effect of pregnancy it could alse be anxiety related . I found it got better as the pregnancy progressed not much help but a little reassurance it wont last forever. I would strongly advice against taking extra meds hun without speaking to your gp.

I'm not going ahead with the pregnancy, I've had tablets posted out which I have taken today. So I don't know if it could be that too.

I'm just exhausted and I just want a full nights sleep 😭

If you’re not going ahead with the pregnancy why don’t you just ask for zopiclone ?

Speak to your health care professional I take mirtazipine. The higher the dose the less effect it has on sleep. I had to increase as when on the lowest dose I was very very sleepy

Above 30mg it looses sedative effects

QuirkyUsernameHere · 28/04/2020 14:36

@PeanutDouglas what's that? X

Another one here who takes mirtazapine, and as said by previous poster the higher the dose the less sedative it is.

@QuirkyUsernameHere v effective sleeping tablet. Very addictive so they’ll only give you a few, but it works. As pp said, your antidepressant loses the sedative effect the higher the dose

I’m on mirtazipine, it has sedation as a side effect of the LOWER dose but DOES NOT contain sedatives

It is not a medication to be treated lightly.

At higher dose the sedative effect wears off anyway. What dose are you on?

Certainly never increase the dose of a prescription medication without first checking with dr.

As you’re pregnant you need to be careful there too.

Speak to your dr, perhaps consider/discuss with him natural ways to help you sleep?

Pregnancy insomnia is a thing anyway and little can be done about it.

If you’re not continuing the pregnancy that may be why you’re struggling at the moment, talk to dr and see if they’ll prescribe a short course of sleeping tablets.
