Hi mums,

I bought a sleepyhead second hand, Iv gone to wash it and thought the middle doesn’t look right to me - the replacements online look completely different... is there something missing? Also it looks a bit ridgy? It was sold as used in good condition. Pic attached x

There should be a cover over that foam part on the left, it's a cover that is removable and washable.

RegalRags · 19/04/2020 18:59

It looks like cotton wool? Mine has a cover and then it's in the same fabric as the inner tube
Is yours the same?

ChipotleBlessing · 19/04/2020 19:13

Agree with everyone else, the cover is missing from the foam section.

LucaFritz · 19/04/2020 19:17

Sleepyheads aren't to be used anyway its on the lullaby trust website along with blankets and cot bumpers etc. Don't know how manufacturers get away with it

Pentium85 · 19/04/2020 19:40

@LucaFritz
Relax, OP has decided they want to use a sleepyhead so that's that.

Although they aren't necessarily reccomended, this is actually no research or a single study confirming this.

The lullaby trust also don't rave about co sleeping, and yet the country with the lowest SIDS rate co sleep.

It's all about balance and risk assessment

Goingunderground2 · 19/04/2020 19:41

There not safe that's what's wrong with it

Pentium85 · 19/04/2020 19:46

@Goingunderground2

Please, do point me to a study or any actual evidence that states the sleepyhead has been proven to not be safe...

It's guidance and advice, not law. There's a reason for that. So get off your high horse.

Goingunderground2 · 19/04/2020 20:11

High horse?? They have been linked to infant deaths in the uk.

ChipotleBlessing · 19/04/2020 20:15

Find one example of a death in the UK linked to a sleepyhead.

newbingepisodes · 19/04/2020 20:17

Not safe sorry

Willow4987 · 19/04/2020 20:19

The foam bit on the left needs to go into the base f the cover

glasshalfsomething · 19/04/2020 20:22

There’s typically a cover for the left hand side part before it goes in the main cover. I’d certainly request it from the seller or a partial refund. See if sleepyhead sell them as a spare.

Ohohohwhereyougoing · 19/04/2020 20:25

That doesn't look right to me but regardless..

Others here need to take responsibility for promoting bad advice. PP is right, they are not safe for sleeping overnight. They don't meet safe sleep guidelines and as the foam isn't wrapped in waterproof covering they shouldn't be used second hand either.

Before anyone flames me, my work is directly related to safe sleep products.

@Goingunderground2

Where have you found that information?
