i am looking for advice im 19 and a single mum and struggling with my babys sleep. My daughter is 10 months old and she will only go to sleep in my arms or lying right next to me. I have tried really hard to get her in her cot but no luck even if she is fast asleep as soon as i move her into the cot she wakes up and screams. even if i am in the room or anything as soon as shes in the cot she screams and screams until i pick her up. i am getting tired because i never get a proper sleep myself. Even in the daytime if i just put her in the cot with her toys to have a quick shower or go toilet or tidy up she just screams and i am really lost what to do because i feel like i never get my own space and its hard with no help never get a break at all. does anyone have any advice? thank you x

We had this a few weeks back with our DD. She’s 9.5mo. We chose to use the Ferber sleep training method on an evening - within two nights it worked!
And through the day, I started a routine of food topped up with milk (rather than just milk topped up with a bit if food) and then putting her down for a nap by walking her out in the pram once in a morning and once in the afternoon (we rock her inside now with the lockdown and sometimes she gets a bit arsey at lunchtime so I put her down for a nap then too). Genuinely didn’t think she’d actually fall asleep to begin with because she was soooo screamy if I ever dared put her down, but she did. Honestly as soon as we started the daytime routine and the Ferber method, it was like having a different child.

*she sleeps a solid 1.5 - 2 hours at a time during the day now so I get to shower/make some lunch and actually eat/ sleep a bit etc. Fingers crossed you find something that gives you some respite x
