I am feeling absolutly shattered as, ds keeps waking around 5am ish, moaning, not crying, for up to an hour. He is cutting his first two teeth, and not sure if this is causing him to wake for this length of time. This morning, it was 4.30am, and still awake at 5.30, so in desperation I offered him a small bottle of 4oz which he drunk, gave him a small dose of nurofen as he seemed to be quite irritable. Should I not offer milk, but maybe water, or diluted milk?? Just don't know if he is waking hungry or not, he is eating ok in day, except will only have fruit for breakfast.

Are you me?? My ds is doing just the same. My days start 4.30-5am and often I'm up several times earlier on as well. What helped my ds a bit was medised, given at bedtime. Or you could try giving it to him when he seems irritated in the early hours. Have it "ready to launch" the night before, in one of those chemist's syringe things, so you aren't fumbling in the dark when he wakes. I'd been trying nurofen but it didn't seem to help my ds much. My ds has just cut his 1st 2 teeth in the past fortnight and I think more are on the way. He's 9m. good luck.

IME, and both of mine did (youngest still does) just that.

I think 5am is a low point in the natural sleep cycle and if anything at all is bothering them then this is the point at which they will get out of that cycle and wake up. If you're lucky you can get them back to sleep but if not then ..... well you know what that means

commiserations
