Anyone else used calm and bright? Bumping an old thread as I was considering them but after the above reviews I'm not so sure???

MinnieMouse92 · 14/07/2021 20:02

It’s very generic, I bought in desperation and it’s basically controlled crying. I wish companies would be honest about what their plans consist of, rather than hinting that they have “gold dust” information. It’s fine that it works for some people and that’s great, and for some it is the magic answer. But I personally wouldn’t have bought it knowing what it was. There is nothing personal in the plan, I assume everyone gets issued the same information, but it’s kind of advertised as being bespoke support. When then asking for advice on your individual situation, you’re expected to pay £40 for “top up support”. In fairness, they have answered my 2 questions that I have asked, but each time have in a round about way suggested I should be paying more, so I just won’t ask any more as I can’t afford to keep paying out. I totally understand that these people are earning a living and I don’t expect things for free, but when you have paid for a plan you do assume it will be suitable to your situation. You will find the same information googling “controlled crying”, “awake windows” and “good sleep hygiene”. It’s great for those that it has worked for but a little transparency from the company wouldn’t go amiss so people know what they are buying in to. Hope this helps x

Really shocked at reading some of these negative reviews. Mainly because it doesn’t sound at all like calm and bright, their ethos or whats in their sleep plan. They are always so responsive via their social media channels such as Instagram and when I filled out a self assessment form they got back to me via WhatsApp the same day. I utilised all their free advice on their insta page with my daughter and it worked wonders. My son had some more complex issues so I purchased a sleep plan and again worked so well. I really urge anyone who has come to this forum to decide on whether or not to purchase a plan to go away and look at their insta, they are always doing insta lives and answering questions or alternatively just drop them a message. They absolutely will reply.

I can only think that some of these reviews are either from competitors or people who are anti sleep teaching as a lot of what has been written isn’t in line with what’s in their plans and all. It’s been like reading about a totally different company 😤

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 29/03/2022 19:27

Ok so you have also just come into MN to make your first post in support of them Hmm

Collette11239 · 29/03/2022 19:43

Yes bang on that’s 100% the reason. I am someone who has purchased the plan and followed their advice with great success. I wanted to share my positive experience.

Liv316 · 29/03/2022 21:16

I purchased their plan and wanted to share my negative experience. They sell their plans as loving and response, yet they are leaving your child to cry at intervals. The plans are a waste of money and I agree with the above comment that the voice notes do not help when you’re trying to put your baby down and can’t listen to them there and then. Their levels 1-5 of crying is pretty sad to think of when it is small babies that don’t have a clue what level of crying they are doing, just that they are signalling for their parent.

adhdquestion · 17/04/2022 15:43

Oh wow just noticed some more recent replies on this thread. Thanks to those that did... very mixed it seems! I didn't do it in the end as was quite expensive and got a bit put off by what I had read on here.
Interesting to read some quite passionate defensive posts too though!

Twinsmamma · 25/10/2022 06:51

Do NOT buy this plan, I’ll save you your money, their “love led method” which shouldn’t involve “much crying” is controlled crying wrapped up in a VERY lengthy document full of waffle about keeping the room dark (duh) white noise (duh) leave them to cry for 2 mins, 4 mins etc in hope your baby gives up hope your there, oh and DO not pick up your baby unless they are completely hysterical (duh) there you have it! All of this information you can find on YouTube. I did message them as the plan wasn’t working and was told as I have twins I never should’ve never expected results without the premium package.. right ok!! I wish I’d saved my money, stopped putting pressure on myself, and just like magic my twins started sleeping through before they turned 1 and I still sometimes cuddle them to sleep now (calm and bright would be horrified)
I do think them being on 3 solid meals a day made a huge difference too! These women prey on the vulnerable and now my babies STTN without ever having to do any of these ridiculous methods, i actually cringe in horror at what the Say to people in their famous q&a sessions on instagram (which all they actually do is encourage you to stop responding to your baby crying and to buy their plan) they even claim that separation anxiety isn’t actually a thing, it’s due to your baby not being sleep trained?!?? If ever I’ve heard of manipulating information that is it !! please save your money and sanity! Try YouTube instead the disappearing chair method is fab, and free ;)

Twinsmamma · 25/10/2022 07:07

I also want to add if anyone is reading this for advice, I don’t actually condone or feel comfortable with my point about not picking baby up unless they are completely hysterical, this pushed me too far emotionally when I tried it, I did find rubbing their back helped soothe them sometimes without picking up, but I did struggle to not pick them up in all honesty, every one has their personal limits on what they can deal with and that was too hard for me. I also co slept from the ages of 6-9 months with my little girl, again big no no in the sleep training worlds but it meant I got much longer stretches of sleep and guess what, at 9 months my darling girl wanted her own cot.
please don’t put pressure on yourself new mummy’s, it’s so hard getting through the day on broken sleep I know more than anyone but listen to me when I say, your baby will one night just stop waking up even if you change nothing and do nothing! They all do!

Hi everyone, first-time dad here of a 3-month 3-week-old boy! I was curious to see how others found the CB method. We bought the Solid Sleep Plan for 0-18 months and started around 9 days ago.

My son wasn't a terrible sleeper but we were rocking, shushing, patting, and sucking(dummy/pacifier) and it would take us 45mins to 1hr sometimes more every time to put him down. In the day the only other way to get him to sleep was contact naps.

We were getting tired of the bouncing and patting and a friend tagged us in a glowing review on Instagram a few weeks ago so we decided to give it a try.

The method is controlled crying in a nutshell with assurance visits at timed intervals 5mins being the biggest.

First nap.... took around 9 minutes for him to settle without ANY assistance from us!!
2nd nap less time and so on

Day 3 was quite similar but there was an episode where he screamed for an hour in there but he settled eventually.

It has been well worth the money for us, I recommend it to others who are interested. I come across as a bit preachy to them but we are over joyed with our results. Night feeds have reduced from 1.5 hours down to 30-40mins when breastfeeding but if I bottle feed I got him fed, changed, and down in about 15 minutes!

Every baby is different, but I recomended it to another family and it worked really well for them until they hit sickness and haven't heard from them in the last few days.

If you're on the fence, give it a go its a lot of money but if you can be ok with some controlled crying and stick to it 100% it CAN work for you!

I'm not sponsored or paid to say anything here I just wanted to add our experience as a first time father who is usually quite skeptical of everything he spends money on :)

Happy to answer any questions

Just wanted to write on here again PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY. I am still, three years on, upset with how this company treated me as a new mother. I would never ever
recommend them. Please use a reputable company.

Honestly the new Ferber (which accounts for both breastfeeding and co- sleeping) was a literal life saver for me, I would recommend trying it first, adhering to all of it, before trying these people. Basically the same thing

Twinsmamma · 02/10/2023 20:30

As above, if you’re reading this wondering if this plan is worth buying - please don’t, it’s ‘controlled crying’ which isn’t for everyone. It wasn’t for me, and I’d paid for a very generic ‘plan’ before I’d realised this method made me uncomfortable. You’re led to believe there’s a magic trick involved in their plan, I’ll save you time and money there isn’t!

Hrodge · 17/07/2024 12:11

I’m here as I’ve been recommended these people by two friends who’ve both had good results. They both said it was absolutely worth the money paid for, found them to be really responsive and helpful, encourages them to be fully on board with the concept before buying into the plan and answered all questions first.. so I messaged them on insta and they got back straight away with some voice notes.

They did actually recommend me to sort out some medical gastrointestinal issues first before starting the plan to make sure it’s effective but that frustrates me as on their self assessment bit on their website it asks if you’ve held off sleep training due to colic/medical issues and makes it seem as if the plan will work regardless.. She was really helpful and did say no pressure to buy into the plan but I could do a discovery call for £25 and that money gets taken off the cost of the plan if you go on to buy into it.

So will see what they say but I came here to read what other mums have written and now it’s making me think I just wasted my money. I guess what they offer is a bit of hand holding for parents who have been putting off sleep training for any reason and tbh that’s probably worth the money if it gets people who wouldn’t otherwise have managed to do it alone a good nights sleep (I know I’d pay £100 for even just a week of good sleep!!) and like others have said they’re just trying to run a business so a lot of the free stuff is about directing you to buying their plan.. what they should really do is just call themselves sleep consultants and market the service as hand-holding rather than providing you with any specific new info so as to be transparent..

Anyhow I’ll see what they say on the call and make decision based on that and post any feedback I have on here after..
