Sleeping through but waking at 5.30am - help!

My son started sleeping through every night a couple of weeks ago (which is amazing!), but he's waking up at the crack of dawn. He naps well through the day - one for 1.5hrs in the morning and one for 1-1.5hrs in the afternoon. He doesn't always nap for that amount of time, but most days I'm happy that he's napped okay and isn't exhausted by 7.30 when we put him down for the night. I know we're not doing badly but I would love to still be asleep past 6am! Has anyone any advice, please?

Swap you for my 11 month old who gets up at 5.30, naps like hell, and wakes up 5,000 times a night Grin

Mine started waking up at this time at 11 months, was awful 🤣. We pushed the morning nap later and within 4 days they were back to waking up at a normal time.

Good luck!

Thank you all so much. I really appreciate you replying.

A month ago I was in the same boat as everyone saying their kids dont sleep through. I was losing my mind!!! I don't know exactly what changed, but he settles himself back to sleep much better than he did. Isolation has helped him nap for longer in his cot because we're always at home whereas before, he would nap in the car a lot. I'm super rigid with nap times as well - 9.30am and 2.45pm.

Move the 9.30 nap later, it works.

Yes my day has started at 5.30am for years and my dc are teenagers now! I have kind of got used to it. Some children are just early risers.

He's normally exhausted by 9.30am but I will try pushing his nap back this morning anyway. Worth a try isn't it!

I wouldnt mess around with his routine until after the clock change, OP.
Messes us all up a bit!

I have one early riser. A GroClock really helped him to understand the appropriate time to get up when he was a toddler. Have a book nearby or something so he can stay in bed entertaining himself a little longer. I showed mine how to make his own breakfast once he was around 6. Bowl, cereal, milk. He quite enjoys pottering around the house before everyone else is up these days. I wonder if it will all change once he hits teens, but I think it may just be the way his body clock is wired.

I don't even think 5 30am is early tbh with little ones, anything after that time is a bonus ime.

It won't be forever OP. I replied already above but this was a phase for us. I look back and remember it felt like ages at the time and very draining but it was really a short phase.
