Hey all !
So my LG is 14 weeks and so far has a great routine .. feeds every 4 hours .. and has her last bottle about 10:30/11 and sleeps till 7/8... I'm very greatful for this as I myself am a late bedder..
but I was looking for advice as to how to bring her bedtime forward ? She normally gets fed 7-11-3-7 and then 11 that's the rough times .. but I feel if her last bottle is 7 there's no way she would sleep through ? Please help

She is very little to be going 7pm-7am, so can you not just carry on with the late feed? If that's what she needs at the moment, just carry on with it. As she gets bigger and can take more at each feed you can reduce and then drop the late feed.

You could try reducing the late feed slowly so she gets used to taking most of her food during daytime hours, but if you think she won't sleep through on a 7pm bottle that's because she needs food at 11pm.

Yeah that's true x just really looking for some advice .. she's on 8oz just now.. I was thinking wait untill it's time to wean and then introduce a bedtime kinda thing cause no doubt she'll drop bottles ect then ?
Or I was thinking to even try her in her basket at her 7/8 feed and the. Wake her about 11 for one xx

Oh do you mean she doesn't go to sleep until 11pm? And you want her in bed earlier?

I thought you meant she was asleep from 7ish but woke for a feed at 11pm!

Aleshia31 · 26/03/2020 09:59

Haha yeah she goes down at 11 xx

Ah ok in that case, then I would do a bedtime routine at 7ish, bath, PJ's, feed etc. and put her down in her basket. Then wake to feed at 10:30/11pm and then put in bed.

Hi OP - DD is 16 weeks and goes down between six and seven but wakes up again around 1 for a bottle and then again around six ish. Then snoozes until nine. She doesn't nap well though. I don't think they sleep through so well at this age (unless I just have a very bad sleeper) but could you put her down earlier and just wake her up for a nights feed? (Or let her wake up for one...) or do you went her to sleep 7-7?

Hi all x
Yeah that's a good idea I'm always just paranoid that 7/8 is too early and she would wake again for a feed selfish I know but I would rather she went down late and slept right through lol !!
Will try putting her down after her 7/8 bottle and waking for a. Feed about 11..
Ovb I know this will probably change when she begins to try solids but was just looking for some advice.
And I've actually noticed she sleeps a lot in the morning so it's just a case of bringing it forwards at night if that makes sense x

I used to put dd down after her bottle around 8/9pm from the day she came home from hospital, when she was tiny I would go to bed at that time too to sleep while I could but I kept the lights low from that time and we never went back downstairs until morning. She started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks old, it’s just something she did on her own. She’d go to bed At 8/9 and sleep through until 5am then want to get up for the day.
You would try a dream feed at 11 if she doesn’t wake to be fed, if your still up anyway it makes sense to

With my little girl we had a bedtime routine of bath and calm and feed from very young at round 6-6.30pm but she wouldn't go to sleep til 10 or 10.30 pm....
One night instead of trying to put her down in our next to me crib my husband lay her down in her own bedroom in her cot thinking she d wake... she slept the whole night through!!! (still I woke every hour to check on her 😂)
I understand that the recommendations are not in their on room til 6 months but my 14weeks old had different idea in mind... she was ready and I think we disturbed her when she was with us...

Hope you find something that works for you!

Thanks everyone !
I've started to bring her bottle forward to 1030 which seems to be working and still sleeping right through it's an hour less than she would normally feed but it seems to work .. maybe next week I'll even try feed her at 10 !
Thanks again x

We did bath etc at 6 from about 5 weeks. DD started sleeping 7-6ish from about 12 weeks. BF on demand for reference. I did feed more during the day though, every 2-3 hours to make sure she got enough calories. If baby is gaining weight well and not waking up, let her sleep! Pediatrician advised us that by that age if they are growing & not waking, a feed isn’t necessarily needed.
