Baby bedding worries!

Hmm so I'm stuck!

My 23 month old, (that sounds weird, he's 2 in a month) he has always slept in a sleeping bag, he is still in a cot.

So for daytime naps I wanted to start getting him used to a duvet ... turns out he loves it and tonight he was grabbing at his duvet and wanted it instead of his bag. So I took him out of his 2.5 tog bag he normally sleeps in and out a 0.5 bag on and his duvet. Then I panicked it wouldn't be safe and could overheat (the duvet is only 4tog but that's more than he's used to and he's wearing a normal baby grow. SO I just went up and removed the duvet and put a little blanket on him. Now I'm worrying he will be cold even though his room is 22 degrees.

What did others do at that age?

I don't want him to climb out the cot that's why I kept to a bag, and we are on the floor below (we were due to move and would all be on one floor and of got him a toddler bed if this stupid virus hadn't come along) so I feel uncomfortable with the thought of him being able to escape !

Now I'm lying here worrying the poor kid will get cold 😩

Maximum tog is 4.5tog for that age so chances are he'd be ok. 22⁰C is quite warm, will it be cooler overnight?

Went down to 18/19, he slept all night, just expecting to go up now and his little hands be cold and me feel guilty, I don't think he can have a duvet with anything so I'm going to have to hide the duvet I think lol

Its fine for hands to be cold as long as his body is warm

I think overheating is less of a risk at this age. If my toddler gets too hot at night she wakes up and goes apeshit.

No bag if the duvet is on. It's one or the other

Haha ok thanks all :) can't wait until he can be in a nice cosy toddler bed with his little duvet !

I had the same worries with my little boy. I just make sure to pop in and check he feels warm enough if I'm awake in the night (which is a lot at the moment with a bf 3 month old) or if I see on the monitor he's pushed it off I cover him again. Took a bit of getting used to but he likes it now and I figure he would wake up if he felt too chilly. So lovely seeing their little duvet and pillow but also reminds you they're not babies anymore!
