This has been an on going battle for over a year and all I get told is to stick with it, he will learn!

I've been sticking to the same routine every night

  • Bath
  • play time
  • Story
  • Staying in his bedroom

The tear start as soon as the word bedtime is mentioned me or hubby will put him in bed and sit next to his bed but he will just scream and scream till he's sick. (Can take a few hours off screaming) A quick bath, clean sheets and he will end up in our bed till he fall asleep and will be transferred to his bed and he is fine for the night. He still wakes in the night for a 2/3 bottles which are left in his bed. (Working on getting rid off them)

If he ends up in your bed, then he is getting exactly what he wants. If you don’t want him in your bed, put him back in his own bed.

Don’t sit with him. Put him into bed and hug and kiss him, then leave. Undoubtedly he will kick off but you need to calmly sort him out and put him back in his own bed. At three you can expect him to understand what’s expected, so explain to him what’s going to happen. He will soon stop, when it gets boring and doesn’t achieve anything.

You have to stick to this, otherwise don’t bother.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough we are doing the putting back to bed method Sitting in his room with our back to him so he's getting no attention. This can go on from 2 to 5 hours.

Personally I'd co sleep. How many adults on here go on about how they can't sleep without their partner but bairns are expected to get on with it?

If falling asleep in your bed and being transferred works, why not just go with what works from the off?
