2 year old waking at 4am - 5am, please help!

Hi ladies. Wow I'm exhausted. My 2 year old (he'll be 3 in July) has started waking up between 4am - 5am for the day!

He's in bed by about 7:10pm each night, & nursery have now started limiting his naps to 30 minutes.

He wakes quietly crying & calling for us. I've tried ignoring this but then he starts to properly cry, at which point of course one of us goes in.

When I tell him it's still night time and he needs to sleep, he starts hysterically crying. I try physically (but gently) putting him back to bed - I don't know if you've ever tried putting a thrashing toddler down & tucking in - impossible & he immediately gets out of bed again.

I bought a gro clock & used it for the first time today so I will persevere with this, but when they get up before desired wake up time, what do I do with him considering how hysterical he gets?!

I also have a 6 month old and I'm worried toddlers screaming will wake him. Funnily enough, the baby who I thought would cause me sleepless nights sleeps 6:30pm - 7am!!!!

Any advice welcome!

My youngest went through a similar stage when he was 2, waking up between 4-5 every day. This went in for what felt like forever and eventually I had to completely stop any daytime nap, which then pushed it back to nearer 6 which is much more manageable. He’s 5 now and still wakes up anytime from about 5:30 so I think he’s just a natural early riser sadly!

Maybe try no nap at all and see what happens?

Could you put him to bed later?
