Hi

My Daughter who is 7 weeks cries for hours from 9pm till 1am every night. She is fine during the day, but cries non stop during those hours, me and husband take turns holding her, when we give her a dummy she throws up (tried Tommee tippee ones, avent and MAM)..we try giving her a bottle as a top up thinking maybe she is hungry still but she ends up choking as shes cryin at the same time. Anyone with experience know what it could be?
Its almost as if shes in alpt pf discomfort but find it strange that its not during the day..

Thanks x

It could be colic? Our ds was the same in the evenings.

Sounds like colic...

We really were convinced it was colic, i posted previously about how to ease the pain but it surprisingly got better within a few days randomly. So we kinda thought its not colic Blush so confusing..

If you bottle feed her add 5 mls gripe water ...it was a game changer for our girlie at 7 weeks!!

DefiniteArticle · 06/03/2020 00:39

Our DS was the same. It's the witching hour (or hours). It's absolute torture when you're going through it but it does reach a peak and then starts to recede quite quickly. You should hopefully see some improvement in another week or two Flowers

Ah must be colic then. Thank you ! Will try the colic drops x

@Grandmi ah yes will also be using gripe water for her feeds. Fingers crossed it works!

@DefiniteArticle thank you for giving us some hope! You just put a smile on husbands face lol. I know all babies are different but hopefully we do see an improvment soon x thank you

My DD was like this (12 years ago!).
The only thing that worked was a tight swaddle,a dummy and the hairdryer on (before the days of white noise apps!). It had to be all 3 though.
My friend gave me a book by Dr Carp and this is what he recommended. I think he has videos on You Tube. The white noise,or shushing needs to be surprisingly loud to mimic the womb sounds.
Good luck,it’s tough! They do grow out of it though.

We found that infacol really helped. Also gently rubbing the tummy and cycling the legs to help get the wind moving.

Throughabushbackwards · 06/03/2020 01:00

Oh, you poor thing, both of mine did this for a few solid weeks at around that age. It's absolutely exhausting, make sure you share the burden with your partner. We found a bath helped them to settle, several each evening if necessary.

My son is seven weeks. We also find he kicks off around Seven. Our solution is bouncing on an exercise ball, using The Hold (google it) the giving a big bottle of expressed milk to make sure his tum is full and then swaddle when yawning. Be sure to burp really regularly. If they make an ‘eh eh’ sound, that’s a signal it’s gas. He loves his swaddle and will go straight down at that point if you catch them in a yawn. Every baby different but just some things from us that have worked.

Did the colic drops work?

Moonshine160 · 06/03/2020 19:30

If it isn’t colic it’s the witching hours. We were lucky that it lasted 6-10pm for us rather than early hours of the morning. It passed eventually but I remember it being awful! Standing and rocking DS with white noise on seemed to help.
