Reading threads about people's kids self soothing at a few weeks through to early months....how did they learn to do it?

Did you sleep train them and if so, what did you do?

@SallyWD for the first few months we couldn't do that cause he had reflux. Was pretty bad and he'd scream and scream.
Then when he kind of got over that he was fine going to sleep in his basket with a dummy.
4month sleep regression hit and also he no longer fitted into his basket si had to go to his cot which does rock like the basket did. Dummy refusal too. So it's been tough!
However seems like we are back on track again just took two mins with more whimpering than a cry and he's asleep for nap 1 :)

@Horehound That sounds tough. I'm glad things seem to be improving now though.

I completely agree with people saying its developmental etc. My son is a terrible sleeper, always has been but what I don't get is how can some babies be developmentally ready at 4 weeks yet some not until 4 years?!

Anybody know the answer to that? Haha.

Lol yeh it's a very wide development gap isn't it?!

Definitely developmental, you can't teach it, just like you can't teach them to sit up, at some point it'll just happen. In the meantime make it enjoyable as possible for you. I listen to audiobooks while holding DC to sleep.

Aw that's sweet @bellesavage
