18 month sleep regression

Hi everyone I'm just wondering if any of you have been through the same and does this sound like 18 month sleep regression? So our little boy has been sleeping through for months. All of a sudden he's been waking up twice a night for the last 4 weeks. I have to settle him with a bottle and he's waking around every 4 hours. I no some people don't believe in regressions but I just hope it passes.

We have two sleep thieves so I feel your pain! I would suggest maybe losing the bottle as he could now be in the routine of waking up for it. Perhaps offer water instead? I do think sleep in general tends to be a bit of a journey anyway. Just when you think you've cracked it, something else happens! My little boy is hit and miss with sleeping through, so we tend to just keep his routine the same as much as possible and ride out any rougher patches. How long does it usually take for your little one to settle again?

Hi Hun yes we try and keep to a routine...well we've never had a problem with him having a bit of milk in the night as that used to happen occasionally but then he would sleep through as normal most of the time...I'm thinking of trying white noise but worried he will rely on it?? He's usually sat up in his cot crying and will only settle with a bottle...I'm sure if he didn't want any he would leave it but he has the whole lot xx

What's his bedtime and nap routine during the day?

It's a smack in the face alright when you had a cracking sleeper to suddenly be up again during the night!

I find mines usually gets a bis restless during the nights when there's new skills coming... could it be more words? Is he stimulated and knackered by bed time?

Hiya so he's at a childminder during the week apart from a Tuesday when I'm off work with him so yes he has 1 nap during the day around 1hr30+ to around 2 hours...he's worn out at night and ready for bed...his routine is the same as it's always been...quiet time before bed or he has a bath then bottle and bed xxx

From what you're saying your routine etc sounds fab so maybe just a developmental phase he's going through, like someone else said. I would try a quick reassuring cuddle and then lay him down so he can go back to sleep without the bottle. And I wouldn't rule out using white noise if it helps you all to get some sleep!

I made that sound a lot simpler than it is, I really have to persevere with laying my little one back down as he wants to get up. I don't say anything, just keep laying him down until he gets bored and stays there. Can take a good hour or so but usually sets him back on track and is followed by a period of sleeping through again. It's hard because you want to find out what works but you have to give it long enough to do that. Hope things improve for you soon
