Hi everyone

DS is nearly 18 months old and since the beginning of this year hasn't slept for longer than 2 hours at a time. Prior to this, he slept reliably in his own room from 7.30pm - 7am.

I don't know what to do. We've tried everything. Controlled crying (he cried for nearly 3 hours on the first night with me going in every 1,2,3,5 minutes so I gave up because I thought it's never going to work),

Gradual retreat (having someone sitting in his room not interacting with him just made him even more irate),

I've slept on his floor in desperation but he still wakes up,

He's got dummies, a cuddly monkey that he takes to bed, nightlight, a really good and consistent bedtime routine (bath, story and milk) and has a daytime nap of around 2 hours.

He eats well and I always make sure that he gets fresh air during the day.

Any ideas? I don't feel that cosleeping is an option as we only have 2 bedrooms in our house, so nowhere for DH!

I'm completely broken through lack of sleep and, honestly, for the first time tonight I feel like I just can't do it anymore. Sad

That must be so tough. I'm sure it's something you've considered but as it's only been happening since the start of the year could he be waking up because he's cold?

I've been having the same problem with my DD who's almost 17 months. She used to sleep pretty well but since the start of this year she's been so unpredictable, sometimes she's up and down for hours and other times it's just quick wake ups.

I don't think she's cold as we have a small heater in her room and it feels warm enough when I'm in there. I'm hoping it's just teething/ cough/ etc and that it passes soon!
