Co-sleeping, cluster feeding, side sleeper cot confusion - help!

I have a lovely 15 week old DD who has always co-slept and fed to sleep in the side lying position. I have a Chicco next to me which she has never slept in Blush and I'd really love to get her into it but I have a couple of problems and I'd love some advice please!

First of all, when we go to bed she feeds to sleep at about 7.30-8pm, sleeps for about 30 mins to an hour but then latches on again several times and feeds in her sleep for another 10-15 mins each time before falling properly asleep sometime between 10 and 11. How can I manage this pattern if she is in her cot, or how can I get her out of it?

Second problem is with the next to me cot... The cot mattress isn't level with our bed surface but is about 5cm lower. Is this correct? It means that when I put her in the cot, she wriggles across in her sleep to get to my boob but then if she did that when I was also asleep, I worry that she might suffocate as her little nose and mouth would be pressed up against the side of the cot. People who have a Chicco, is this normal or should the cot mattress be exactly level with the adult bed?

Sorry for long post but I would really like to try and gradually stop co-sleeping, and at the moment I can't see how I can :(

She also latches on in her sleep several times a night. Sorry, forgot to mention

Should also mention that she sleeps pretty well - usually only wakes fully for a feed once at about 4am, although sometimes has one at 1am too

Thats normal for the next to me crib, the lip used to frustrate both me and my child.

I put a second thin crib mattress under the board and next to me mattress to rise it up to the same level so the lip was no longer there. It means you can feed while baby stays in the cot in the usual side lying position and makes much more sense

Thanks @Thecathouse, that's actually really helpful because I thought I was just incompetent and had set it up wrong or something Flowers
