Nocturnal 2 month old really hard to settle!

Before you start to read this, apologies for the essay! Im a new mum, struggling with sleep deprivation and settling my little one. Any advice or relatable stories would be greatly appreciated!

My son is just over 2 months old and i am really struggling to settle him for longer than 1-2 hours. He still has a little bit of colic but is growing out of it, he has never settled in his basket or cot and after 8 weeks of getting around 2 hours broken sleep a day, i resorted to letting him sleep on my chest (which for now is the only way he'll sleep). He gets over tired and is impossible to settle otherwise. He is wide awake at night, mostly screaming and finally gives in around 8am (so my idea of attending any mum and me groups goes out the window). I've tried everything, swaddling, rocking, bouncing, making the room dark and quite, different beds, bathing before trying to sleep etc...
I had a difficult birth (induced, long labour and forceps) and have been told by some that could have something to do with him being unsettled? To top it all off he started teething about a week ago (we think anyways - rosy cheeks, constant knawing and sucking on his hands and my little finger, runnier poos and and dribbling like a pro!)
I dont want him sleeping on me forever in case he gets too used to it and in years to come he still wont sleep in his bed. I would also like him to switch off at night, i have no idea what to do or how long that will take? When hes awake and not crying, hes generally quite happy, always smiling and trying to talk to you.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What did you do and how long did it take for your little one's body clocks to adjust to night time?
