Dropping last feed at 5.30am

I wonder if anyone had any advice about dropping the last night feed when it's happening very close to morning?

My LO is nearly 1, his sleep isn't too bad but we've been working on night weaning. He is BF. He generally goes to bed around 7.30pm after feed and a story, sometimes needs a bit of a cuddle in the night but will go without a feed until about 5am - 5.45am. Once he has a BF, he'll then go back to sleep until around 7.30am and won't have another feed when he wakes up. So, he's having 2 breastfeeds in 24 hours - one at bedtime, then this early morning one.

I would love to push that early morning feed until about 6.30am, then get him up for the day once he feeds. I think 5.30am is too early for him to get up for the day, as he always falls straight back to sleep after his feed, then is cheerful and upbeat when he wakes up at 7.30am.

Should I just wait until that feed shifts naturally? Or does anyone have any recommendations for just stretching his sleep by one more hour before feeding him in the morning?

Quite frankly that sounds amazing for a bf not yet 1yo. I wouldn’t mess with it!

Does he have a supper other than a feed

PastaFasool · 30/01/2020 14:29

@FraglesRock yes he's eating 3 meals a day plus a couple of snacks. I try to make sure he has starchy vegetable as part of his dinner around 5.30pm or 6pm - so something like sweet potato with lentils hotpot.

Sorry that the only thing I'd have said was to increase his supper.

What's his bday time nap like

If he’s sleeping through till then, it sounds like it is actual genuine hunger/thirst? Will he take a bottle during the day? If so, that might be a way of seeing if it is hunger or comfort he is after.

We give our 18 month old milk when she wakes between 5-6 then she goes back to sleep for a couple of hours. I wouldn’t mess with it to be honest
