Advice and tips wanted for a bad sleeper!

My baby boy is 10 months and is a terrible sleeper!

Sometimes he wakes up every 30 mins, on a good night he wakes every two hours. He goes back off fairly easily but then as soon as he hits his mattress he wakes up again. If he sleeps with me he is much better but co-sleeping is not for me. I don't sleep properly if he's in the bed and neither does his daddy who has to get up for work!
I have started controlled crying with him (on day 5) and he has responded really well when I first put him down ( settles himself within 5 mins) but is still waking up very frequently and I don't really know whether I'm meant to be controlled crying then too or settling him with milk or cuddles!
Anyone have any advice?

Hey I don't have much advice apart from to date we're going through the controlled crying stage too. Like your son our DD was waking very often and got in the bait or needing cuddles to sleep. I believe your meant to continue with the CC if they wake too. How long do you leave your son before going back in? I've literally got up with DD now as she was crying/moaning and I didn't want her to wake her sister. I prob should of left her longer but I know if I give her some milk we both can have cuddles and she'll go back off for a couple hours. How's your son during the night, is he as bad?

Excuse the typos ... bait - habit
Date. .. say 🙈

I do 2, 5, 7 & then 10 minutes. I will go back in every 10 mins!
He's still waking up really frequently in the night and he also wants milk and cuddles and will go back off until you put him back in his own bed when he pings back awake. He took an hour to go back off at 2am last night but luckily I don't have any other little ones to be mindful of.
So when he wakes in the night I'm not meant to pick him up at all?

Apparently not as they expect this at each waking up believe. It's to help with the self settling. The first couple nights we had cry outs but she settled within 10 mins. If it gets to like4 tho I go in just so her sister can sleep.
Our problem is if we go in at bedtime when she's crying (we do 10 mins from the word go - however I sometimes feel guilty and goin before) I find it makes her worse especially when I leave the room again. Are you seeing any positive changes?

Aww must be difficult with another little one!
I definitely think it's helping, think I'm on day 7 (iv lost count) and he is self settling fairly quickly and my nights are getting better I think. Aspen knows the score now though so he gets upset at the end of our little bedtime routine because he knows what's coming which makes me feel so guilty.
Is it just you putting baby to bed or are you taking it in turns with your partner?

We're on day 7 too! Well we started a week ago today. Last night was the quickest she fell asleep in under 5mins! Which is great .. however the 4am wake up call wasn't so fun. That's my next challenge 🙈😩
I tend to do the DD2 bedtimes, if my DH goes in she thinks it's playtime 🙄
How about your end? Do you both do it?
It must be hard seeing him upset before he even gets in to bed. You know in the long run it will be worth it. I've heard all this amazing stories of people's children sleeping through for like 12hours from day 3 or what ever... my daughter didn't get this memo 🙈😩

Katie1962 · 27/01/2020 11:09

So last night he went down at 8:30 within about 10 mins, woke up at 3 for some milks. Went back in his own bed and woke up at 8 this morning!!! So happy Grin
There is hope for us all haha. I put him to bed 90% of the time and now I'm scared to change it in case it messes him up so now I'm stuck 😩😂

Epsom salt in his bath with a few drops of Roman chamomile & lavender aromatherapy oil. The Epsom salts will get magnesium into baby's system, which were often deficient in & it regulates sleep, stress, pain etc. The aromatherapy oils are baby safe & calming, aid sleep etc too

@RockinHippy thanks! I will give that ago too!
