ok, don't all take the piss (esp you franny) but is there anything i can do to 'gently encourage' ds2 to kip for just a wee bit longer at night?

feeding (bf) more or less 3 hourly in the day

only manages max 4 hours between feeds at night

e.g. last night fed at 9:45pm. he woke for feeds at 1:30 and 5:30

weight fine (91st centile, up from 25th at birth)

Try to stuck him ful of bm before you go to bed?

I don't know really, ds2 didn't manage more than 2.5 hours at this age and was bottle fed.

Tutter · 31/08/2007 13:08

cluster feeding didn't make any difference when i tried it

plus am not keen to feed too frequently as ds2 colicky - could make him worse

Tutter - does he keep losing his dummy? Hence waking up. Found the once ds found his thumb he slept better.

RubySlippers · 31/08/2007 13:29

do you swaddle him
TBH my DS was like this at 6 weeks, and he was on my boob for about 2 hours cluster feeding of an evening

i was going to recommend a dreamfeed, but his last feed is quite late

bear with it he is only little

Tutter · 31/08/2007 13:43

yup, swaddled

dummy does fall out - spend much of the night reinserting it

ds1 never did find his thumb - still has dummy at night (2.3yo) but is World Class at putting it back in again now

sounds about the same as my dd2. I thought I'd cracked it with dd1 as she slept through from 8 weeks old. I did everything exactly the same with dd2 but it didn't work. At least (as I consoled myself) she does go back to sleep after a feed as opposed to ds who would then be wide awake.

She is 8 months now and can sleep through from 7.30 till 5am - but not all the time... Sometimes she still wants a 3am feed.
