Teething ruined sleep - tell me there’s hope

Little ones just turned 5 months and had been sleeping through 7:30-7:30 with a dream feed about 11ish and putting himself to sleep when I laid him down. Had been doing this for about a month and it was post 4 month sleep regression so I know current issues aren’t that ..
He started cutting a tooth which understandably started waking him constantly in the night, even calpol/nurofen didn’t touch it. The tooth has come through but it’s been 2 weeks and he’s still waking 2-3 times a night :( he gets so upset at nap time too that he screams when I lay him down but also when I pick him up as he just wants to sleep.
I suspect there might be another tooth coming as he’s still chomping down on anything and his gums are red but I can’t be 100%.

Guess I’m looking for some hope that he will go back to his good sleep habits once teething is done? Also how do I know jf it’s teething or his sleep is just buggered now? And how do I get it back 😂

I am here to give you hope. Teething normally wrecks sleep in our house for a good few months and then it goes back to normal.

I understand the fear but once a good sleeper always a good sleeper in my experience - once your baby is not in pain things will go back to normal.

Such a relief to know there’s light at the end of the tunnel and sleep is not gone forever 🤣

My dd was a brilliant sleeper from very early. Teething did disrupt her, as did a 'leap' period between 9 and 11 months, but she settled back into her good sleeping habits Smile

Oh and just FYI, my DS, although obviously everyone is different, never gets just 1 tooth at a time. We normally get them in 4s and they come through in really quick succession, then we go back to normal for a few months, then get another 4, then back to normal etc

Thank you @theseriousmoonlight I was worrying that as it’s been about 2 weeks that he would’ve forgot how to sleep well and I’d have to somehow get him back to it.
@PPopsicle ah that makes sense, a lot of sleep stuff I’m reading says teething pain should last 4 days max :s so looks like he could have another one coming straight away then.

My dd was a good sleeper but every time her pattern was disrupted by teething or illness I worried the same as you did that she wouldn't go back to being a good sleeper.

You can stop worrying OP, I already did it for you!
