Hi all. Not BF related but after a hectic christmas and baby's first holiday abroad we're finally getting into a (rough) routine. It's kind of fallen this way so I wanted thoughts/examples from other mummies please. My boy is 15 weeks, is combi fed and weighs 16.5lb. We're out and busy in the day time so he naps more in the car/his buggy etc. He has been 3 nights with no BF in the night but he has boob if he wakes for it.

6.30am - 30 min BF (finishes about 7.15am) and nappy

8.00am - 10.00am - a dark, swaddled nap back in his 'next to me' while I get showered and do housework/eat with the monitor on my hip! I usually have to wake him from this nap to eat!!

10.00am - 6oz formula. Then dressed for the day.

11.30am - 12.00am - nap in his bouncer if we're still home if not nap in the car/buggy

1.00pm - 5oz Breastmilk from bottle

4.00pm - 20 min BF

5.45pm - 5oz formula

6.00pm - 7.00pm - nap (usually on me!)

7.45pm bath and massage

8.30pm - 6oz Breastmilk from bottle

8.45pm - swaddled and put to bed (I'm in and out soothing him for a while until he drifts off (usually by 9pm), then we pop the tv on quietly while he sleeps).

I'm sure it'll change, evolve but how does it sound as a starter for 10?

The thing with routines is that they're individual. If it's working for you that's all that matters. No one can say if it's 'good' or not. Does it work for your lifestyle? Also 'routines' at this age are ever changing so I think the most important thing is not what your routine is but to be flexible and adaptable.

Mines 15 weeks too and unfortunately we have no routine other than bedtime (bath at 5.45, BF 6-7, settle into bed by half 7 ideally).

I would absolutely kill for those naps! Mine will only feed to sleep and can't be transferred to a cot in the day without screaming so I haven't managed any sort of routine even though I'd love one.

The 2 hour morning nap is because it still feels like night time I guess, I cant put him in a cot to nap as he hates it unless its night time and he's swaddled. I'm super lucky at the mo he's going down so well though but it's only been a week!! I cant put him down anywhere in the day without being in his face with toys (which he cant hold yet) hence why we go out and about. I've just enrolled him in baby swim classes for something to do together. I wondered if I should be getting him up and dressed at the 6.30am feed? That's what I'll have to when I'm back at work in a few months I guess!!

Mine is 16 weeks and also has a two hour nap in the morning after being awake an hour. I used to Have a routine but now I just put her down when I see her yawn or rub her eyes and she naps. Could last 30 mins or an hour. The last 5 days she's been in bed by 8 and waking bang on 7am. I just follow her guide a lot of the time but keep bedtime between 7-8:30pm at the latest. Do what you feel best, everyone gives opinions but mums ALWAYS know best rather than strangers on the Internet xx

Thank you Elhan. I cant wait until I can put him in his own room to nap, or even put him anywhere unswaddled to nap without tricking him into thinking it's still night time. Lol. He's got a beautiful cot and musical mobile in his nursery but has only ever slept for a scheduled sleep in his 'next to me', swaddled in a sleepyhead, or my arms! 😂
