Anyone brought this? Is it worth it? I'm less worried about waiting money, more worried about getting my hopes up Grin

I didn't buy it but signed up to their emails. I find their marketing aggressive and goady. Really trying to hit a nerve. Suggesting that the baby will thrive more if you buy their programme, that you'll enjoy being a Mum more if you buy their programme. I disliked it so much i decided not to buy.

As a side point, the only friend i know who bought it has a 15 month old who's asleep for 2-3 hours in the night every night.

Emma198 · 09/12/2019 09:33

Haha the 15 month old is awake for 2-3 hours every night.

PopcornAndWine · 09/12/2019 09:49

I bought their newborn programme in a moment of weakness when DD was 2 weeks old. Had no success and since learned that the type of routine they advocate and nap lengths is totally unsuitable for a baby that young, especially one who is BF on demand. I have heard of people with older babies (6 months +) having some success with them though.

Elbeagle · 09/12/2019 09:53

I bought is at 7 months and it didn’t work for us unfortunately. They didn’t have any answer when my baby insisted on waking at 4.45am for the day every single day despite us following every single tip they gave, meaning that the rest of the routine was completely useless for us. I just got myself more and more worked up because it wasn’t working, and he went from going down easily for naps and self settling to screaming and screaming at nap times and bedtime because I was trying to force him into a routine that didn’t work for him.
I’ve heard it work for other babies though.

stripeydinosaur · 09/12/2019 10:28

I bought it about a year ago when dd was 4 months old. It didn’t really work for us - on some level it was useful having a routine to aim to work around, but there are many other cheaper places you can find very similar routines and advice, and in the end I think it made me more stressed trying to stick to a routine that often didn’t work out on any given day. But you get to thinking if you stick to it just right your baby will magically sleep through!

NotQuiteBridgetJones · 09/12/2019 14:06

Thanks ladies. My little one is 4.5 months and wakes every 1.5-2 hours over night. Doesn't self settle, ever.
Has to be rocked to sleep for naps. And feeds to sleep (EBF) at night.

I don't want to waste money but i have no idea how to get her to self settle. And no idea how to get her to sleep longer at night Confused

Babies that young can’t self-settle, they don’t understand wtf it is! They need comfort, love and their parents to help them. It is so normal for babies that age to wake up. This is also the peak age for sleep regressions.

Any form of sleep training is recommend until after 1.

PopcornAndWine · 09/12/2019 14:32

Mine is also 4.5 months and can't self settle. She had to be breastfed to sleep both at night and for naps. I was worrying about it but am trying to just go with the flow for now as @MustardScreams says it seems to be what she needs.

Emma198 · 09/12/2019 17:30

I follow Pinky McKay and love her approach.

kenandbarbie · 09/12/2019 17:51

That is just normal baby behavior. We've evolved for babies to survive better being close to their mum for safety and that's what they want. I'd cosleep safely. Then everyone can get a good nights sleep.

NotQuiteBridgetJones · 09/12/2019 19:50

@kenandbarbie we do safely co-sleep.. being woken every 2 hours on a good night is hard. Some nights she wakes more than every hour.. I've barely got to sleep before she's awake again Shock

Elbeagle · 09/12/2019 19:52

Then everyone can get a good nights sleep

Even if you’re co-sleeping, being woken every 1-2 hours is tough.
I woke more often when co-sleeping because of the fidgeting/kicking me in the back etc. It’s not the solution to every sleep problem.

HayleyHaystack · 09/12/2019 21:56

Our worst sleep in the past 22 weeks has been the co sleeping sleep! It really annoys me how people assume co sleeping just guarantees sleep. Since the dreaded sleep regression, my now-5 month just stopped sleeping in his crib overnight. It was like a flick of the switch. For the past month we’ve been co sleeping and it’s hell. He wakes up at the slightest sound or movement. Neither me or my husband sleep anymore - too busy hanging onto the end of the bed, scared to sniff or cough or freezing cold as the duvet is around our knees. Cot training this week so maybe we’ll get this good night sleep everyone talks about

notsleepingbeauty · 09/12/2019 23:06

Mine wakes up every time I attempt to put her in the next to me crib, she won't co-sleep next to me, she literally has to be ON me. I'm exhausted and have aches/pains from lying like a statue and I genuinely think my health is taking a toll. I will look into sleep consultants as soon as she's a little bit older (currently 13 weeks)
I hope it gets better for you soon

TisTheSeasonForMincePies · 12/12/2019 01:18

Mustard is absolutely correct... Please don't buy into this warped view society has about normal baby sleep. Sleep training culture can be quite damaging. Rather than waste time and money on these companies that sell a lie, research baby sleep and gentle tools.

Sarah Ockwell-Smith is great.

TisTheSeasonForMincePies · 12/12/2019 01:20

NotSleeping

Totally normal behaviour especially at that age. Please look up 4th trimester. A sleep consultant is a waste of money, especially that young.

NotQuiteBridgetJones · 12/12/2019 07:24

@HayleyHaystack I feel your pain. My OH sleeps in our spare room so me and LO have more space in the bed. I'm so cold most nights from having to duvet so low.

NotQuiteBridgetJones · 12/12/2019 07:33

@notsleepingbeauty mine was like that.. would get angry if I didn't feed her like this picture 😂
Now she won't feed like that. But wants to be super close. Both of our side. In the V position. And she loves a hand on her head. Basically as much contact as possible 🙈

I have the lo program. The first thing they'll tell you is that baby will need be in their own room and you'll need to take one of several approaches to self settle. If that doesn't sound like something you'll do, it's not for you.

I don't regret spending my money on it at all, but it does not mesh with the mumsnet vibe of 'cosleep and breastfeed, they'll sleep when they're ready'.

TisTheSeasonForMincePies · 15/12/2019 08:45

But they will sleep when ready... It's not just a MN thing Xmas Hmm

TisTheSeasonForMincePies · 15/12/2019 08:48

And I wonder if that thing they ask you to do is leave your baby to cry... Research has shown this can actually be damaging.

Sleep training culture needs to be diminished.
