Restless baby in latter part of night

I’ve posted about this before but feel I can better describe what is going on now.

My ds is nearly 14 weeks and since about 7 weeks or maybe even earlier he’s had a restless night after his first feed. He sleeps well for 5-6hrs from bedtime (which we are gradually pulling forwards, now 8.30pm but will be bringing more to 7.30 eventually). But from after his feed (2-3am) until the morning he is restless about every 45-60 mins which I know is a sleep cycle. Often he will toss and turn for a few mins then go back to sleep but others he will be restless for hours. Nothing I do seems to help (have tried picking up and resettling, hand on chest, shushing etc). He is rocked to sleep (working on reducing the amount) and use dummy to put him down but remove it soon afterwards before he is fully asleep.
The last four nights he’s slept more deeply and only started being restless about 6am and thought perhaps we’d cracked it with an earlier bedtime but was restless since 3am again last night.
He has four 45 mins naps during day about 2hrs apart but his first nap can sometimes be only an hour or so after waking. We’ve had a bedtime routine since about 8-9 weeks

I’m worried he not getting very restorative sleep in the latter part of night and wondered if anyone has similar experience or advice on what we can do to help?

Nothing,he's tiny and sleeping really well. He'll sort it out himselfSmile

Does he just get 1 feed in the night? Maybe he needs another one about 5? My DS had 2 or 3 bottles between 8pm and 7am at that age. Or is he struggling with getting the wind up? Would gripe water or tilting his cot in case of silent reflux be an option?

Apparently everyone's sleep tends to get worse in the latter part of the night so this isn't anything abnormal. It might be gas, mine used to wake up gassy and uncomfortable at this time.

I think it's pretty normal for babies to have a long stretch at the start of the night then wake up more often as it gets towards morning.

It's tough but baby sleep changes so much in the first year. Enjoy the long stretches you do get!

I have thought that as he doesn’t really fully wake for his 2-3am feed just stirs (but I left him I think we would wake fully) so yes just the one feed which he wakes for about 6 hours after last fed. Sometimes the stirring will happen only an hour or so after his feed so not sure this is the case but am aware that as I start pulling his bedtime forward he will probably need another in the night. He’s never been particularly windy and raising the cot doesn’t help but thanks for the suggestion
