10month old dropping to one nap?

As the title suggests my DD is really starting to fight her morning nap, yesterday it just didn't happen at all even after walk in the pram etc. She did then sleep for two hours after lunch and went to bed as normal.

Should I be trying to stick with it or let her take the lead? My instinct is to let her take the lead as she's always been an easy going good sleeper and I fear forcing her will make her so upset. Usual routine:

6.30-7am wake,
7.15am breakfast
8.30am milk
9am nap (or not!) max an hour when it happens
11.45am lunch
12.30pm ish nap for 1-2hrs
4.45pm dinner
6pm bath
6.30pm bottle and bed

Any advice appreciated!

What's her physical activity like? Mine dropped her morning nap about the same age and then picked it up again after she started walking. So I'd say keep persevering with putting her down but don't let her become upset about it maybe? Even just 10 minutes in her cot in the dark will keep the routine going and you may well find she goes back to it.

Yes she's probably getting ready to drop it, she might still have it some mornings, or maybe a catnap in the car somewhere. I found it easier when DS dropped his morning nap, he now consistently has 1.5-2.5 hours in the afternoon instead which is great. If she's a good sleeper I'd go with the flow, don force it as you're only going to stress everyone out. It took me ages to realise this Confused

My DS is 18 months now but our routine is very similar to yours and has been since the same age, minus the morning nap. DS also wakes up any time between 5.30-6.45, apparently he likes to keep us on our toes.

My eldest ds dropped all daytime naps around that age, my youngest carried on with daytime naps right up until he started school. I don't think anything I did would have changed either of them so if take her lead I think.

I have literally just posted on the same thing! Really interested to hear other people's experience, OP!

So I had a developmental review for my 10 month old DC this morning, seeing a senior HV. The opinion of the HV was that at 10 months it is okay for DC to sometimes be having 1 nap rather than 2, although it will probably go back and forth between 1 and 2. Her opinion was to follow the lead of DC.

Hope that helps!

Thank you everyone for your replies. Very reassuring!

That's interesting, @PastaFasool this week has been a bit like that! Today we were back in our old routine but yesterday definitely the new one. As much as I love a routine I'm just going to be led by her - as long as she is happy that's all that matters.

Mine suddenly decided one nap a day was plenty. After 3/4 days of trying and failing to get him to have an afternoon nap I moved his morning nap to around midday.
