Bed time for a 4 year old......

Dear All,
this must have been done to death on this page, just wanting some comparison about bed times. 4 year old Dd goes to her room and has a story at 7pm, then light left on till half 7, this seems to work well. She nags already to stay up longer, but I personally think it should stay at about that for at least a couple of years. She's always up 0600 or 0630. I have mates that seem to think I'm being a bit mean.

That sounds perfect. Ds (now 11) had a bed time of 7pm till he was 6-7 it then progressed to 7 30.

All children will nag to stay up longer!!!

I remember going to bed and having lights out at 9 when I was about 12, so 7/7.30 sounds perfect for a 4 yr old. When she starts school she'll probably nag to go to bed at 6....!!! My neighbour's 12 and 14 yr old go at 9 on school nights - only a couple of hours later and a whole decade older!

No harm in relaxing it sometimes though if there's a party or special occasion, or a Sat night if you're all having fun etc.

my nearly 6 year old still goes to bed at 730 during term time. later on weekends and during holidays

My 5yo DD goes to bed at 7:30pm on a school night.

Weekends and holidays vary widely and can be very late depending on where we are and what we are doing. We are lucky though as DD will sleep for approx 11-12 hours most nights, and if she goes to bed late it means she will almost always wake up late, so a late night can actually be a good tactic for me and Dhs hould we want a lie in

Cool, thanks folks, just the reassurance I needed.
