Tummy sleeping = better sleep

My daughter is 7 months old didn't really do naps well she would sleep for 30/40 minutes and wake still sleepy. One day when I put her for a nap she turned around and fell asleep on her from and again another two days and slept for 2hours. Today I put her dow on her front hoping for a good nap and again slept for 2 hours.

She was also sleeping through the night from 5 months. However the past three nights she woke around 10pm and I've had to feed her to settle her back down.

My question is do you think that she's having better sleeps on her front and this is causing night waken? And is it safe to sleep on front?

I've heard it's not safe for them to sleep in front. She can roll from back to front but not front to back yet? We have video monitors in her room and feel comfortable with her selling on front in the day but not night as I'm not sure how safe it is?

Any advise or experience with front sleeping would be much appreciated thanks.

My hv said a big no no. My mil wanted to know why as that's the way they did things back in the day so I asked. The UK had one of the highest rates of cot death in the 60s. When researched, New Zealand only had like a 2% rate of cot death I think and the difference was parent's were advised babies should sleep on their back. Sleeping on tummies makes them go into a very deep sleep apparently and they can forget to breathe. Also more babies die from choking on their own sick if on their stomach rather than on their backs. That surprised me, but they have a reflex that either makes them swallow or spit up if on their back so it's much safer.

My LO has always slept better on her tummy, so what I ended up doing was putting her to sleep
On her tummy and after 20/30mins once she was sleep turning her onto her back. After 6months it didn’t make much difference as she rolled herself to sleep in every position.

My kids always slept on their tummy. I still sleep on my tummy!

Have you got an angelcare may if you are worried? This reassured me a lot as an alarm would go off if it detected no breathing.

Think once they can roll they are fine to sleep on their tummy. Mine all did from 7/8 months onwards

I had exactly the same issue and decided at about 5 months to sleep DD on her front if it meant she got restful sleep. I had an angelcare monitor which I ended up giving away when she was confidently rolling as I didn't feel like I had to worry any more. Whatever works!
