Hi!

I need help. My little boy is fighting his naps in the daytime and he is getting more and more overtired. His cot, rocker, nothing works! He used to sleep on me if he wouldn't sleep anywhere else but he doesn't even do that now! Luckily he's a good sleeper at night but I just don't know what else to do!

My DD is the same - really fights it. I have to stand up and be stepping to the side and back whilst rocking her vigorously. I hold her with hear head on one elbow and my other arm supporting her bum so she's horizontal. It seems to force her eyes shut. If she's almost asleep/waking up too early I gently stroke her forehead down to her nose and that forces the eyes shut as well.

@thatguiltyfeeling thanks for replying lovely! It's a nightmare at the moment. I know he's tired yet he's fighting it and then ends up over stimulating himself as we can't do anything else as he won't nap. Honestly, he's had colic since 2 weeks old constantly crying and now this lol. Need a break 😂

Mines the same (he's nearly 5 months) , always fights sleep during the day. I've found laying him in the middle of my bed and laying quietly next to him works, takes about 15 minutes mind.
I also lay him on a blanket on the floor in the livingroom and put music on while I get on with the housework, I check on him every 10 minutes and he's usually asleep within half hour, a lot of the time the dogs cuddled up on the blanket too.

@OhWellThatsJustGreat that's adorable.

I've vigorously ( feel like you have to rock them so hard 😂) rocked him and he's currently half asleep side ways on my lap cuddled up to my arm. Think it's because hes worn himself out. He gets so congested or sounds it after he cries in frustration.

Have you tried putting him front of the washing machine? Or in good weather out under the washing line with washing on - the shapes and shadows can be soothing. Or maybe in the buggy in the shade in the garden and you go indoors nearby but just far enough so he doesnt feel your worry and have a cuppa.

Babies v resilient and will survive to be happy, vigorous toddlers even if they miss their nap. Dont worry too much. xx
