4 week old not staying awake

Hi,

My four week old has started to get a pattern with his sleep. However, he has been asleep since 10:30pm last night - hasn't woke despite filling his nappy and being due two feeds

He usually wakes at 2:30am and 5:30am and again by 8am - I've had to wake him at 5am and 8am to change and feed him.

He's back snoring now, I've opened the window and stripped him to his vest because I panicked he was too warm (he seems fine) Temperature seems okay.

He has breastfeeding jaundice, he didn't have any symptoms other than slight yellowing which midwives said would fade in time. He's gaining regular weight and usually wakes for feeds and definetly doesn't sleep this much at night time.

He was awake for a few hours yesterday but nothing that could cause this much tiredness.

Even when I was changing him he was struggling to wake up and he usually would cry

Does anyone have the same issue? I'm waiting for a midwife to phone me back

I would phone 111 and get immediate advice. He is prob fine but I'm not a medic and babies can become ill fast (and get well fast).

You should definitely get advice from 111 or your GP. My son was very sleepy at 10 days old, couldn't even wake him with a bath, called my GP who was happy to see him straight away it turned out he had bronchiolitis. Always better to err on the side of caution when they are so small.

Hi guys, he seemed to perk up. He's been fed again and is doing his windy faces and a poo. He sounds congested, so I'm making a GP appointment ASAP just to get him checked over

Sounds a good plan - glad he perked up. Hope go check up goes well.
