Wind waking up 4 month old - help...!

My 4 month old had colic when he was born (to 10 wks) and now's far, far happier, but still gets gut ache, especially at night. No matter how much we wind him it still wakes him every 2/3 hours. It's obviously wind because his legs are up in the air trying to shake it off. He seems desperate to get back to sleep, but the only thing that'll get him there is a cuddle, then more bf. Then the whole cycle starts again...

Any ideas? I could really use longer sleep chunks than I'm getting - am sure he could too.
I don't think it's what I'm eating as I changed my diet when he first arrived to try and help the colic, so am still avoiding citrus fruits, spicy foods, caffeine, etc, etc. Could be wrong though.

Tried Cranial when he was tiny - am not sure if it worked or whether it was just his body getting stronger as he got older. Having said that it felt worth it at the time and I have thought of taking him back.

Mattress sounds interesting, but he hates being tied down - we had to get him a sleeping bag as the covers were off as soon as they touched him. He's an active little soul.

Theres a baby massage method of relieving wind. You hold their legs and push it into their stomach for 5 secs and then stretch them back out and hold for another 5 sec. Do this about 5 times. Also cycling with their legs is supposed to help relieve excess gas.

Thanks kbaby - we're onto that one and others too. It does seem to help him, but then it all builds up again.
