Cot to bed hell

So for the last month I have swapped my 2.5 DS cot to a bed. He has always been a self soother and a decent sleeper (apart from the odd phase)

I have been so disciplined around not rocking him to sleep or co-sleeping because I am a single parent working full time and needed to have some downtime too.

We have been through it these last few weeks with him taking ages to settle or getting up in the night. But now it's so hard because he is wild at bedtime! Hitting and shouting and being very hyper. I am battling (and getting so stressed) for over an hour and then he crashes and sleeps

Please help me out with advice or tips...?

I have stopped naps in the day and thinking he is over tired??

I've just been through this with the same age. She's napping again during the day now and everyone is happier for it.

Also worth considering audio books - we do a couple of proper bedtime stories then put on an audiobook (via alexa) to fall asleep to. Seems to bridge the gap between going to bed and bring asleep without being over stimulating.

Thanks so much! I am debating whether the dropped nap is making things worse as he is so hyper and wired like he is over tired

I have tried Moshi twilight but he won't sit still long enough. It's like I battle and restrain him to eventually rocking him to sleep

Tonight was vaguely better. He had had a 30 minute nap in nursery but I think me being home earlier helped. Still took an hour but was a lot lot calmer. I gave him his milk in bed tonight too so I think I may continue that
