My 16mth old can't sleep at night. Night terrors?

Our little one went into his own room just before his first birthday and after a few weeks we had a really great routine going. He would have a final (boob) feed before teeth and stories. When we put him down he's usually drift off within 10-15 mins

The last few weeks have been hell. He was teething but they seem to have settled. We put him down at 7.30 he will wake at 10, 11, 12 etc... until 6ish when that's it, he is up for good. When he wakes he is agitated and my husband cannot settle him at all. We've tried letting him self settle (which he could do previously) but he's just far to emotional for it to be an option. The only thing that will calm him is me. Either holding or feeding him until he's sleepy enough to put down.

So I am essentially 'sleeping' in his room every night, being woken every hour and having to hold the poor chap til he sleeps.

I feel like I'm failing him by stepping in rather than leaving him alone. Also I cannot go on much longer with this little sleep.

We thought he had an ear infection but he's been checked and is fine, the teeth have settled, we've tried white noise, soothers, more layers less layers...

Getting him off to sleep at bedtime is fine I just can't understand why he's waking in such a panic and so frequently. Can anyone offer any advice.

How old is he now? DS did this when we moved him to his own room, but took a few weeks for him to finally settle down. He'll still occasionally cry during the night but not for long and will sleep for 10-12 hours.

It may take a while, but you've got to stick with it. It's the fact that it's a new room, so unfamiliar to him.
